Who we are

NYCExamPrep.com is a free study site for New York City civil service exams. It offers original practice questions, timed mock exams, flashcards, daily practice, and study guides. The site is an independent resource and is not affiliated with the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), the NYPD, the FDNY, or any government agency.

What information we collect

Very little. The site has no accounts and no sign-up, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information to use it.

• Your study progress — your practice answers, mock exam results, flashcard progress, and daily streak are saved in your own browser on your own device (localStorage). They are never sent to us or to any server. Clearing your browser data deletes them.
• Your settings — display preferences you choose on this site are also stored only in your browser.
• No analytics — the site does not currently run any analytics service that tracks you across the web. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated.

Cookies and third-party advertising

This site is supported by advertising through Google AdSense. When ads are shown, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads to you.

• Google and its partners may use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites.
• These cookies let Google and its partners show you ads that may be relevant to you. They do not give us access to your personal information.
• Ads on this site only appear in clearly marked advertising spots on content pages. They never appear inside practice questions or timed mock exams.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will not stop you from using this site.

Children's privacy

This site is for people preparing for civil service exams. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent and believe a child has shared personal information with us, please contact us through the Help page and we will remove it.

Links to other sites

This site links to official sources, such as DCAS Notices of Examination on nyc.gov, so you can check the official exam information. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if the site starts using an analytics service — we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
